Happy Birthday, Hanne

Hope you have a wonderful day that is more inspiring than those you have been having.

I've been out all day, but I'll have a rummage around and see if I can find you something as a present!

Hanne, you've probably seen this pic before, but I hope you like it anyway... )

Friends!

A lovely idea from [livejournal.com profile] fawkesielady_ed  and snagged from [livejournal.com profile] ferneberga

Copy and Paste if you have enjoyed the blessing of meeting people online that you never would have met any other way.

Well I'm a late (and slow) starter to this online friending game, so far I have half a dozen new friends on LJ and a bunch of acquaintances that I am too insecure (actually I like to think modest) to call friends - yet - that I have made online in 2010. All of which is a bit perverse, because I have enough trouble keeping up with longtime friends and acquaintances through the more traditional routes of: actually meeting in person; by letter, phone or email!
I have been pleased to meet all of you that I already consider friends, and those that I hope to have the confidence to call friends in the coming year. The internet is a wonderful tool for bringing people together. *hugs you all*

UK Flights grounded

As I live around 15 miles from Heathrow I am finding an unexpected benefit from the closure of the airport. The noise of the planes doesn't really bother me and I rather like seeing them overhead. I am close enough to see them taking off, and lining up to land. Recently we seem to be where they turn to line up for the airport - I can even tell which runway is in use by where the planes are if I bother to think about it - and I have been woken by the sound of them turning overhead in the mornings. None of that now. Complete - almost eery - silence. It does seem strange not seeing the big jets flying overhead, and no con-trails either.

Who'd have thought a little old volcano would shut down most of Europe's air-space in this day and age...

Work!

Who knew working could be so tiring?
I have been absolutely knackered since I started back at the office, even though I have been spending 10, 12, 15 hour days "playing" on my laptop at home. Website design is work, even if it isn't paid!
