I'm beginning to remember what I don't like about working and I haven't even started back yet! First they want to pay me about two thirds of what I was earning before. Hmm, I thought contracting was supposed to be lucrative... Then they can't get their act together to have a contract signed for me to start on Monday. Crikey, it was 3 weeks ago that I was asked if I was interested!

I actually rather like the work - the IT manager remembers fondly that I originally described my job to him as "playing tetris all day long" - but I hate all the politics and stupid shenanigans that go with it. I'm not keen on all the faff that goes with it as well - I'm now signed up to be an employee of an umbrella company who will pay me PAYE and allow me to claim expenses that I wouldn't be entitled to if I was a straight employee of the company I will be contracting for. And the company itself would rather pay ~25% over the odds in salary to me (and make money for the recruitment agency) rather than allow an extra head on the headcount.

The lunatics are running the asylum.

I'm going to miss ~~wasting~~ spending so much time reading all the wonderful authors that I have found on here and stalked to a number of other online libraries, though
